Captiva 240
Description
The Captiva 240 is a trailerable sailboat produced in the mid-1980s. It's an American recreational keelboat first built in 1984, based on the O.H. Rodgers-designed Rodgers 24 racer but modified by Walter Scott for better cruising performance. Changes included a different keel (fixed stub with centerboard) and rig to make it more versatile as a racer-cruiser. The Captiva 240 sailboat was built by Captiva Yachts (USA), a short-lived company based in Clearwater, Florida (with some operations noted in Oldsmar, Florida later on). The company was founded in 1984 by Richard Watkins (previously of Watkins Yachts) and partner Kevin Pastor, but it went out of business around 1988, shortly after introducing models like the Captiva 240. Production ran from 1984 to 1988, with only about 140 hulls completed before the company closed.
