Captiva 35
Description
The Captiva 35 is a cruising sailboat from the same short-lived builder as the Captiva 240 and 270. It was produced by Captiva Yachts (Clearwater, Florida, USA) starting in 1980, with production continuing briefly under Sovereign Yachts (Port Richey, Florida, via Custom Fiberglass Products subcontracting) after Captiva Yachts folded around 1988. This model predates the trailerable 240/270 line slightly but shares the company's focus on practical, affordable fiberglass cruisers. Designer: Walter Scott (naval architect, known for practical cruising adaptations; he also modified the Rodgers-based 240/270 models for Captiva Yachts). Unlike the performance-racer roots of the smaller Captivas, the 35 was purpose-designed as a dedicated cruiser from the start—emphasizing interior volume, comfort, and bluewater-capable handling for coastal or occasional offshore use.
