Jenneau Trinidad 48
Description
The Jeanneau Trinidad 48 (also known simply as the Trinidad 48) is a French bluewater cruising sailboat designed by naval architect Guy Ribadeau Dumas as Jeanneau's first dedicated large ocean cruiser, emphasizing safety, comfort, spacious living areas, and seaworthy performance for extended voyages or liveaboard use. Built by Jeanneau in France from 1981 to 1987 (now out of production), it features solid fiberglass (GRP) construction with some kevlar/polyester reinforcements in later or specific hulls, a keel/centerboard (keel/cbrd) hull type for versatility in shallow anchorages while maintaining good stability, a masthead sloop rig (with cutter options in some examples), generous cockpit and saloon volume, and interior layout suited to long-distance cruising (e.g., multiple cabins, large galley, navigation station, and ample storage/tanks for fuel ~450 liters / ~119 gal and water ~900 liters / ~238 gal in some configs). It was marketed as a powerful yet gracious offshore vessel, with strong tracking in varied conditions and a reputation for durability—though production was moderate (dozens to low hundreds built over the 6-year run, not a high-volume series).
