Kalik 44
Description
The Kalik 44 is a Belgian fiberglass bluewater cruiser-racer designed by renowned American naval architect Gary Mull and built by Jachtwerf Vennekens (Vennekens Yard) in Belgium from 1980 onward (production ended in the 1980s–1990s). It features a fin keel with skeg-mounted rudder for balanced handling and protection, solid GRP construction with teak interiors in many examples, a masthead sloop rig (with some charter-rig variants for easier handling), spacious accommodations (often 3–4 cabins/sleeps 8+, large saloon/galley, and ample storage/tankage for extended cruising), and strong seaworthiness for offshore passages—praised as safe, reliable, and comfortable with good performance in varied conditions. It's suited to family/liveaboard or long-distance voyaging, with a reputation for durability (e.g., "built to last" in broker descriptions). Production was limited (dozens built, not high-volume), with surviving hulls (1980s–1986 era common) occasionally listed for sale as classics.
