Kettenberg 32

Kettenberg 32

Description

The Kettenburg 32 is an American fiberglass cruiser-racer designed by Alan Payne (an Australian naval architect known for America's Cup challengers like Gretel and Southern Cross) and built by Kettenburg Marine (or Kettenburg Boats/Whittaker Corp.) in San Diego, California, USA, from 1975 to 1978. The hull molds were produced by Columbia Yachts (similar to the Columbia 9.6 hull), with Kettenburg handling final assembly, interiors, and fit-out. It features a fin keel with rudder on skeg for balanced performance and protection, a masthead sloop rig, solid fiberglass construction for durability, and a practical layout suited to coastal cruising or club racing (spacious cockpit, reasonable interior volume with berths for 4–6, galley/head, and storage). It's noted for good handling, stability, and value as a classic from the mid-1970s IOR-influenced era, though production was limited (likely dozens of hulls total over the short run).
