Kings Cruiser 33
Description
The Kings Cruiser 33 (also known as the King's Cruiser 33) is a mid-sized Swedish/Finnish fiberglass cruiser-racer designed by Pelle Petterson (a prominent Swedish naval architect, son of the legendary Erik Salander Petterson and known for elegant, fast designs like the Maxi series). It was built by OY Fiskars AB (Inha Works division) in Turku/Åbo, Finland, from 1972 to 1978, with approximately 150 hulls produced. The design evolved from the earlier wooden Kings Cruiser 28/29 series by Tord Sundén (fractional rig, smaller LOA), but the 33 adopted a modern IOR-influenced hull with a fin keel and skeg-mounted rudder for stable, predictable handling and excellent seakeeping. It's praised for robust build quality (not prone to osmosis), fast yet forgiving sailing characteristics, and an extremely spacious interior for its era (roomy saloon, good headroom, berths for 5–7, galley, head, and storage suited to family/coastal cruising or occasional offshore passages).
