Kingston 15
Description
The Kingston 15 is a compact, plywood pocket yacht / micro-cruiser designed by Midwest Engineering & Design (plans available from sources like WoodenBoat magazine and independent sellers). It's built using simple plywood construction (tack-and-tape or stitch-and-glue methods) with fiberglass sheathing for durability, emphasizing safety, stability, shallow draft (only 7 inches board up), and ease of launch/retrieval as a trailerable personal weekender for 1–2 people. The design prioritizes simplicity, affordability for DIY builders, and a small but functional cabin for overnighting (berths, basic storage), while remaining seaworthy for protected waters or light coastal use. Production is plans-based (no factory mass-builds)—many examples are home-built or small-shop projects.
