Kismet 24T

Kismet 24T

Description

The Kismet 24T (often abbreviated K24T) is a lightweight, trailerable trimaran designed by Bill Kristofferson (from British Columbia, Canada) in the 1990s–2000s as part of his Kismet series of multihulls (including the K24C catamaran variant). It was created for amateur or small-shop builders, emphasizing simplicity, affordability, comfort for its size, and strong performance (e.g., owners report it as "incredibly comfortable" for coastal sailing, with good load-carrying and stability). The "T" denotes the trimaran configuration (three hulls: main hull + amas), with a focus on easy trailering, quick setup, and versatility for daysailing, weekending, or light cruising in protected waters. Construction is typically plywood/epoxy (stitch-and-glue or similar methods), with asymmetric amas for efficiency, a centerboard/daggerboard in the main hull, and a fractional sloop rig (often with a rotating mast or simple setup). It's not a mass-production boat—no factory builder—but plans were available through designers or multihull communities (e.g., shared in boatdesign.net forums and older blogs). Production is scattered and very low (dozens of hulls at most from owner-builds; no centralized tracking), with some documented examples built in Canada, New Zealand, and elsewhere.
