Kiwi 30
Description
The Kiwi 30 is a Canadian fiberglass racer-cruiser designed by Ron Holland (New Zealand-born naval architect, known for IOR successes and later superyachts) and built by Kiwi Boats (USA-based yard) starting in 1977. It was developed as a production evolution of Holland's 1975 IOR 1/4 ton winner Eyghtene (French for "18," tying to its rating), with clean, fast lines free of extreme IOR distortions, prioritizing outright speed and all-around performance over pure rating optimization. The design features a fin keel with spade rudder for responsive handling, masthead sloop rig for efficient sail management, and a compact but functional interior suitable for coastal racing or short-handed cruising. It's noted for being quick, stable, and fun, with a reputation as a "pretty little boat" that holds its own in club or handicap events. Production was limited (dozens of hulls at most, not high-volume), making surviving examples semi-rare classics today (occasional used listings in the US or Canada).
