Laurin Koster L28

Laurin Koster L28

Description

The Koster 28 (also known as Laurin Koster L28, Laurin 28, or Laurin-Koster 28) is a classic Swedish fiberglass long-keel cruiser designed by Arvid Laurin and built by Norrlandsplast (with some earlier wooden versions and later GRP builds by various yards in Sweden). Introduced in the mid-1960s (first GRP hulls around 1966), it was produced until the early 1980s (approximately 155 hulls built in GRP). The design is renowned for its seaworthiness, stability, and ability to handle rough conditions (e.g., used for circumnavigations and world cruises by owners like Göran Cederström in the 1970s), with a traditional double-ender (canoe stern) hull, long keel, and simple, reliable construction emphasizing durability over speed. It's praised as a "legendary" boat for long trips and difficult conditions, with a comfortable motion and reassuring performance in heavy weather.
