Little Harbor 63
Description
The Little Harbor 63 is a premium, bluewater-capable luxury cruiser designed by legendary American naval architect Ted Hood (founder of Little Harbor Yachts and renowned for innovative centerboard designs, Hood sails, and offshore-capable yachts). Built by Little Harbor Yachts (hulls constructed in Taiwan by Lien Hwa or similar under Hood's supervision) primarily in the late 1980s (e.g., 1987 examples like Karuna, Corsair, Final Furlong, and Tuatara), production was extremely limited—likely in the low single digits to low teens (exact numbers not widely published, but consistent with Little Harbor's semi-custom, low-volume ethos; sources indicate very few hulls). It features solid fiberglass construction, a versatile keel/centerboard (keel/CB) setup for adjustable draft (shallow ~6.5 ft / 1.98 m board up for access/beaching, deep ~12.5 ft / 3.81 m board down for upwind performance), a powerful masthead ketch rig (most common configuration, with in-mast furling mainsail/mizzen in many refits for easy short-handed handling), skeg-hung or spade rudder for balanced tracking and protection, twin cockpits (center for sailing/guests, aft for lounging/swimming), and a luxurious, traditional interior (typically 3 staterooms with 3 ensuite heads, spacious saloon, great sea galley, beautiful woodwork, nav station, and excellent headroom/storage).
