Description
The Lockley-Newport 23 (also known as LN-23 or Gloucester 23) is an American trailerable recreational sailboat designed by Stuart Windley and Harry R. Sindle as a daysailer/cruiser with a fractional sloop rig. Built by Lockley Newport Boats (USA) starting in 1978 (some sources note production into the early 1980s), it features fiberglass construction, a swing keel (centerboard) for shallow draft and easy trailering/beaching, an open cockpit with room for 3–4 people, and a small cuddy cabin for basic overnights or storage. It's known for its forgiving handling, good light-air performance from a generous sail plan, stability for its size, and affordability as an entry-level pocket cruiser—popular among owners for lake/coastal daysailing or short cruises.
