Luders 27

Luders 27

Description

The Luders 27 (also known as L-27 or Luders 27 (1960)) is a classic, cold-molded plywood (later some fiberglass) fractional sloop designed by Alfred E. "Bill" Luders Jr. (of Luders Marine Construction, Stamford, CT). Introduced around 1960 as a smaller evolution of his earlier L-series racer-cruisers (like the larger L-27/40 from 1955), it emphasizes light-air performance, elegant lines, and a smooth, frameless interior (no joints/caulking needed due to molded plywood). Only a handful were built (estimates 5–10 hulls in this smaller 27–28 ft version), making it extremely rare today—often a custom or semi-custom project from the Luders yard.
