Luger 21 Windward (Southwind 21)
Description
The Luger Windward 21 (often called Windward 21 (Luger)) is a lightweight, trailerable fiberglass daysailer/cruiser built by Luger Industries (Burnsville, Minnesota, USA) from around 1964 to 1987. It's a swing-keel (centerboard) fractional sloop emphasizing affordability, easy handling, and good performance in light-to-moderate winds—popular for family daysailing, lake/coastal use, or as an entry-level cruiser with a small cuddy cabin for basic overnights/storage. The design features built-in flotation for safety, a roomy cockpit (seats 3–4 comfortably), and simple rigging—forgiving for beginners but capable enough for more experienced sailors. Production was moderate, with many kit-built examples; surviving hulls are common on the used market.
