Maple Leaf 48
Description
The Maple Leaf 48 is a substantial Canadian bluewater cruiser/motorsailer designed by Stan Huntingford and built by Cooper Enterprises (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada) starting in 1972 (production continued into the 1980s, with some hulls completed later under different yard names after Cooper closed in 1990). It's a heavy-displacement fiberglass yacht (Airex-cored hulls in many examples for strength/lightness) with a center cockpit for protection, a cutter rig for versatile sail handling, and spacious accommodations (often 3–4 cabins, 2 heads, large saloon/galley, and excellent storage/headroom ~6'–6'6"). The design prioritizes seaworthiness, a dry ride, and comfort for long passages or liveaboard use—many owners have crossed oceans or cruised extensively.
