Mariner 28
Description
The Mariner 28 is a solid, full-keel coastal cruiser designed by Peter D. Canning and built by Mariner Yachts (East Greenwich, Rhode Island, USA) from 1977 to 1983, with approximately 150–200 hulls produced. It features heavy-displacement fiberglass construction with a long encapsulated keel for excellent directional stability and grounding forgiveness, a masthead sloop rig for balanced handling and good performance in moderate-to-strong winds, and a comfortable, traditional interior (4–6 berths with V-forward, saloon settees, galley, enclosed head, and headroom around 6'). The boat is well-regarded for its seaworthy motion, dry ride, and durability—ideal for extended coastal cruising, weekend getaways, or light offshore passages—though it is moderate in very light air and not a light racer.
