Mariner 32 Ketch (Fairweather Mariner 32)

Mariner 32 Ketch (Fairweather Mariner 32)

Description

The Mariner 32 (also known as the Mariner 32 Ketch or Fairweather Mariner 32) is a heavy-displacement, full-keel bluewater ketch designed by Clair Oberly and built in fiberglass by Far East Yachts (Japan) starting in 1970, using the same hull molds as the Mariner 31 but distinguished by its open, taffrail-surrounded cockpit and classic clipper bow; production was limited (exact number not widely documented, but low due to the era's niche market), with some hulls finished or marketed under Fairweather or other labels. It features a robust, traditional construction suited for safe, comfortable long-distance cruising, with a powerful ketch rig for balanced short-handed sail handling in heavy weather, excellent stability from its encapsulated keel, and a practical interior for extended passages or liveaboard use—prized for its seaworthiness, dry ride, and proven offshore capability (many examples have crossed oceans).
