MARK MM 23

MARK MM 23

Description

The Mark MM 23 is a rare, trailerable performance cruiser-racer designed by Dr. John S. Letcher Jr. (a naval architect known for small, efficient sailboat designs and aerodynamic studies) and built by Mark Marine Inc. (Raymond, New Hampshire, USA) starting in 1979. Only a very small number of hulls were ever produced (likely fewer than 10–15, as it was a boutique/low-demand model), featuring a variable-draft fiberglass hull with balsa-cored deck and Airex foam core elements for lightweight strength, a fin keel/centerboard or daggerboard configuration for versatility, and a masthead sloop rig optimized for balanced performance and comfort in coastal or lake sailing. It is noted for striking a balance between speed and ease of handling, with a clean, modern hull shape suitable for daysailing or short cruises—though its rarity makes surviving examples collector's items today.
