Marsh Cat (White)

Marsh Cat (White)

Description

The Marsh Cat is a 15-foot cold-molded catboat designed by Joel White (a renowned wooden boat designer from Brooklin Boat Yard in Maine) and introduced in the 1980s (plans first published in WoodenBoat resources). It was created as a lightweight, trailerable daysailer with a spacious cockpit, excellent stability from its broad beam and flared sides, and a simple high-peaked gaff rig for easy handling in protected waters like marshes, bays, or lakes. Built primarily using cold-molded construction (four 1/8" layers of mahogany veneer over molds, no lofting required), it's praised for its dry ride in chop, shallow draft for beaching/exploration, and roomy feel in a compact package—ideal for solo or small crew daysailing, with optional rowing or small outboard propulsion.
