Mayfly 14

Mayfly 14

Description

The Mayfly 14 is a 14‑foot plywood sailing skiff designed by Philip C. Bolger and marketed by Harold “Dynamite” Payson, who also produced plans and kits. Introduced in the early 1980s, it is a simple, lightweight, flat‑bottomed skiff intended for easy amateur construction using plywood‑and‑epoxy methods. Mayfly 14 was designed as a stable, forgiving daysailer that rows well, trailers easily, and carries a single balanced‑lug sail on an unstayed mast. Several hundred have been built worldwide by home builders, making it one of Bolger’s most popular small skiff designs. Features include minimal parts count, excellent shoal‑draft performance, high stability for a flat‑bottomed hull, a large open cockpit, and very low maintenance requirements.
