Medalist 33 Mk I (1961-1965)

Medalist 33 Mk I (1961-1965)

Description

The Medalist 33 Mk I is a 33‑foot offshore cruising sailboat designed by W. (Wirth) Monroe and built by LeComte Yachts of Holland from 1963 to 1966. LeComte was known for exceptionally high‑quality fiberglass construction during the early transition from wood to GRP, and the Medalist 33 was one of their premium cruising models. Approximately 35–40 boats were built before the design was replaced by the Medalist Mk II. The Mk I features a full keel with keel‑hung rudder, a heavy‑displacement hull, and a masthead sloop rig, all intended for serious bluewater cruising. Its construction included thick hand‑laid fiberglass, teak joinery, and a seaworthy deck layout. Owners value the boat for its robust offshore capability and classic LeComte craftsmanship.
