Melges 24
Description
The Melges 24 is a high‑performance 24‑foot one‑design racing keelboat designed by Reichel/Pugh Yacht Design and introduced by Melges Performance Sailboats in 1993. It revolutionized sportboat design with its lightweight construction, carbon‑fiber spar, retractable bowsprit, asymmetrical spinnaker, high‑power sail plan, and planing‑capable hull. Built in large numbers—over 900 boats worldwide—it quickly became one of the most competitive international keelboat classes, known for strict one‑design rules, professional‑level racing, and an active global circuit. Features include a lifting keel with bulb, open deck layout, large cockpit, minimal interior, and blistering downwind speed.
