Menger Cat 19

Menger Cat 19

Description

The Menger Cat 19 is a classic gaff‑rigged cruising catboat designed by David Menges and built by Menger Boatworks in Babylon, New York, from the mid‑1980s until the mid‑2000s. Inspired by traditional Cape Cod working catboats but built in rugged hand‑laid fiberglass, the Cat 19 was the company’s most popular cruiser, with several hundred hulls produced. It offers a remarkably roomy cabin for its size, shallow draft, a simple unstayed mast, and a powerful gaff sail, making it equally suitable for sheltered bays and coastal cruising. Features include a wide, stable hull, generous cockpit, optional overnighting accommodations for two, a portable head, and easy trailerability. Owners prize it for its blend of heritage looks, straightforward handling, and practical comfort.
