Metalmast 30

Metalmast 30

Description

The Metalmast 30 is a high-performance, lightweight racer-cruiser designed by Peter D. Canning and built by Metalmast Marine (Putnam, Connecticut, USA) in the early 1980s, with very limited production (likely fewer than 20–30 hulls due to the boutique nature of the yard and the niche market). It features a vacuum-bagged fiberglass/Kevlar composite hull with foam core for stiffness and reduced weight, a fin keel with spade rudder for excellent upwind agility and responsiveness, a tall fractional sloop rig optimized for speed in moderate-to-strong winds, and a minimalist, functional interior (berths for 4–5, small galley/heads) focused on racing with occasional cruising capability—known for its quick acceleration, good pointing ability, and fun, rewarding sailing in club or MORC/PHRF events.
