MIST SLOOP 19'6
Description
The Mist Sloop 19'6" (commonly called Mist) is a cozy pocket cruiser designed by Karl Stambaugh (a respected American naval architect known for traditional wooden boats) and featured in WoodenBoat magazine and related publications. It's a trailerable daysailer/cruiser built primarily in plywood (sheet-plywood construction over sawn frames or glued-lapstrake with epoxy), with a gaff or Bermudan sloop rig for simplicity and elegance, a centerboard for shallow draft (1'6" up, 4'6" down), and accommodations for 2 adults + 2 children (V-berth forward + saloon settees). The design emphasizes easy building (lofting required), handsome lines, and versatile use as a pocket cruiser for protected waters or short coastal hops—praised for its stability, dry ride, and classic appeal in a compact package.
