Montgomery 23

Montgomery 23

Description

The Montgomery 23 is a compact, trailerable pocket cruiser designed by Jerry Montgomery (founder of Montgomery Marine Products, Dana Point, California, USA) and first built in 1985 as an evolution of the Montgomery 17 and 15 series. It features a swing keel (keel/centerboard) for shallow draft versatility (1.75 ft up for beaching/trailering, 4.50 ft down for sailing stability), a masthead sloop rig for predictable and balanced performance, positive foam flotation for unsinkability, and a cozy interior with berths for 4 (V-berth forward + saloon settees), small galley, and enclosed head—praised for its "big boat" feel in a small package, seaworthiness (proven by solo ocean passages), and ease of trailering/launching.
