Moody 44-2
Description
The Moody 44 is a spacious center-cockpit bluewater cruiser designed by Bill Dixon (of Dixon Yacht Design) and built by Moody Yachts (A.H. Moody & Sons, in collaboration with Marine Projects Ltd., Plymouth, UK) from 1991 to 1996, with 114 hulls produced in fiberglass. It is a development of the Moody 41/419 series, offering enhanced accommodation and refinements for improved comfort and seaworthiness, with a fin keel and skeg-hung rudder for balanced handling and protection, a masthead sloop rig for straightforward sail management and good performance, and a generous interior (typically 3 cabins/2 heads, large saloon/galley, centerline aft cabin) with excellent headroom and storage—widely regarded as one of the best 44-footers of its era for comfort, seaworthiness, solid Moody build quality (thick hull laminates, teak joinery), and forgiving nature in coastal or offshore conditions.
