Mystere Flyer 26
Description
The Mystere 26 (also commonly known as the Mystere Flyer 26 or simply Flyer 26) is a British-built pocket cruiser designed by Fred Parker (Frederick R. Parker) and produced by Fairways Marine Ltd. (UK), often through associated builders like Langstone Marine (who also built Fishers). Production ran primarily in the 1970s (first built around 1970, with examples up to the early 1980s), with a limited run of fiberglass (GRP) hulls. It's a classic British coastal cruiser: compact yet surprisingly roomy for its length, with good accommodations (including a dinette, berths for 4–5, galley, and head), full headroom, and a reputation for solid build quality, comfortable motion, and decent windward performance. The design features a fin keel with skeg-hung rudder for protection and tracking, moderate displacement for stability, and a masthead sloop rig that's straightforward and short-handed friendly. Owners from the era (1970s–1980s) often cruised extensively (e.g., Normandy to Holland with family), praising its seaworthiness, ease of handling, and value.
