Nautor Swan 391
Description
The Nautor Swan 391 (commonly called Swan 391) is a high-performance Finnish cruiser-racer sailboat built by Nautor Oy (Nautor Swan) in Jakobstad (Pietarsaari), Finland, designed by renowned New Zealand naval architect Ron Holland. Production ran from 1981 to 1987, during which 52 hulls were constructed using solid fiberglass (GRP) with a fin keel (standard deep draft; optional shallower version noted at ~5.5 ft) and spade rudder, emphasizing exceptional build quality, lightweight yet strong construction, competitive IOR-influenced lines for excellent upwind and reaching performance, and a balance of racing prowess with comfortable cruising amenities. It features a masthead sloop rig, luxurious teak interior (typically 2 cabins with 6-7 berths, spacious galley, navigation station, heads, and good storage/tankage), responsive handling, high stability (ballast/displacement ratio around 36%), and a strong reputation as one of the most desirable classic Swans from the 1980s—still actively raced and cruised today with enduring value and seaworthiness for offshore passages.
