The Nautor Swan 43 Tall Rig refers to an optional taller mast configuration on the classic Swan 43 (S&S), the iconic Finnish performance cruiser-racer built by Nautor Oy (Nautor Swan) in Jakobstad (Pietarsaari), Finland, designed by Sparkman & Stephens (S&S design #1973). This variant was available during the model's production from 1967 to 1982, when 67 hulls total were built in solid fiberglass (GRP) with fin keel and skeg-hung rudder (some with adjustable trim tab originally); the tall rig provided enhanced sail area and light-air performance compared to the standard (shorter) rig, while retaining the boat's classic long-overhang lines, IOR-influenced hull for balanced offshore racing/cruising, exceptional build quality, luxurious teak interior (typically 2 cabins with 6-7 berths, galley, heads, and good storage), responsive handling, and timeless reputation as a seaworthy, elegant thoroughbred among Swan enthusiasts.
