The Nelson Marek IMS 50 (also referred to as Nelson/Marek IMS 50 or simply NM IMS 50 in some contexts) is a high-performance custom racing sailboat designed by Nelson/Marek Yacht Design (Bruce Nelson and Bruce Marek) in San Diego, California, optimized for the International Measurement System (IMS) rating rule that succeeded IOR in the late 1990s/early 2000s for grand prix offshore racing. These were typically one-off or very small-series custom builds (e.g., by yards like Goetz Custom Sailboats or others in the late 1990s), with lightweight composite construction (often carbon/Kevlar layups for stiffness and low weight), fin keel with bulb, spade rudder, fractional or masthead sloop rig, and minimal interior focused on racing crew (berths for 8–10, basic galley/head, sail storage emphasis)—prized for speed, reaching/downwind prowess, and competitiveness in IMS fleets (e.g., boats like "Idler" won events in the early 2000s IMS 50 revival).
