Neptune 24 Standard Rig
Description
The Neptune 24 Standard Rig (also known as Neptune 24 or Neptune 24 FK/CB variants) is a compact, trailerable American pocket cruiser/daysailer built by Capital Yachts Inc. (Harbor City, California, USA), with in-house design (often attributed to the yard or C. William Lapworth-influenced styling from related models). Production began in 1978 and continued for a number of years (into the 1980s or early 1990s based on surviving examples), with quantities built not precisely documented but moderate for the era (hundreds estimated, given ongoing used market presence, especially in the US). It features fiberglass (GRP) construction, available in fin keel (FK) with transom-hung rudder or centerboard (CB) for shallow draft/trailering/beaching, a masthead sloop rig (standard configuration; a taller rig option existed for better light-air performance), simple accommodations (typically 2–4 berths with V-berth forward, settees, small galley/heads, and outboard auxiliary), and a reputation as an affordable, stable, easy-to-handle family boat for coastal, bay, or lake sailing
