Neptune 24 Tall Rig
Description
The Neptune 24 Tall Rig is the taller-mast variant of the Neptune 24, a compact, trailerable American pocket cruiser built by Capital Yachts Inc. in Harbor City, California (with design influenced by the yard and possibly C. William Lapworth styling from related models). Production started in 1978 and ran for several years (into the 1980s/early 1990s), with moderate numbers built (hundreds estimated, common in used US markets especially West Coast/Great Lakes). The tall rig option provided increased sail area and better light-air performance/power compared to the standard rig, while retaining the same fiberglass (GRP) hull (available in fin keel/FK with transom-hung rudder or centerboard/CB for shallow draft/trailering), masthead sloop configuration, simple interior (2–4 berths, V-forward, settees, small galley/heads, outboard auxiliary), and reputation as an affordable, stable, easy-to-handle family boat for coastal, bay, lake, or light offshore use—nimble and forgiving for beginners/intermediates.
