New Orleans Marine 38

New Orleans Marine 38

Description

The New Orleans Marine 38 (often abbreviated NOM 38) is a 38‑foot bluewater cruising yacht designed by S. David Pecoraro and built by New Orleans Marine, Inc. in Louisiana during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Fewer than 20 hulls were produced, making the NOM 38 a rare, semi‑custom cruiser known for rugged construction and seaworthy performance. The boat features a modified‑full keel with skeg‑hung rudder, a powerful masthead sloop or cutter rig, heavy hand‑laid fiberglass with substantial framing, and a warm, traditional cruising interior. Designed for serious passage making, it emphasizes strength, stability, long‑range tankage, and conservative, offshore‑ready design choices common to Gulf Coast custom yards of the period.
