Snapir OD 11

Snapir OD 11

Description

The OD 11 (also known as Snapir OD 11 or simply OD-11) is a classic Israeli fiberglass daysailer/dinghy built by Snapir Sailing Craft Ltd. (Haifa, Israel) starting in 1972. It was designed by renowned British naval architect Ian Proctor (a prolific designer of small boats like the Topper, which shares very similar dimensions and philosophy). The boat was marketed as a lightweight, durable, and easy-to-sail trainer/daysailer for 1–2 people (or small family), with an open cockpit, built-in buoyancy, and simple cat rig (unstayed mast, single sail for minimal fuss). It's praised for rigidity (one-piece molded centerboard case laminated into hull), portability, and fun in light-to-moderate winds—similar to the Topper but with a slightly different hull shape and construction. Production numbers are not precisely documented but appear moderate (thousands likely across decades), with many still sailed today in lakes, rivers, or coastal areas (especially Midwest US fleets like Otsego Lake).
