South Coast Seacraft Eclipse 6.7
Description
The South Coast Seacraft Eclipse 6.7 (also known as Eclipse 6.7, South Coast Eclipse 6.7, or Northbridge Eclipse) is an American trailerable pocket cruiser designed by renowned naval architect Carl Alberg (with some input from South Coast's team) and built by South Coast Seacraft Co. (Shreveport, Louisiana, USA) starting in 1978. It was intended as an updated successor to the highly popular South Coast 22 (which had over 3,000 hulls produced), incorporating refinements like a revised deck/cockpit layout, forward-shifted mast for better sail balance, and improved cockpit draining (addressing SC 22 complaints by routing drains to the transom instead of the keel trunk). Production was limited (far fewer than the SC 22, likely in the low hundreds or less), as the company faced challenges and shifted focus before closing around 1981. The "6.7" refers to its metric length (~6.7 m / 22 ft), and it shares a nearly identical hull, swing keel, rudder, and much hardware with the SC 22 but features differences in topsides (raised deck ~3" higher), cabin layout, and sheeting (mid-boom on Eclipse vs. boom-end on SC 22). It stands out for trailerability (swing keel for shallow draft/launching), fun performance as a daysailer/weekender, stability, and practical cruising features (berths for 2–4, V-berth forward, settees, minimal galley/heads, and sitting headroom) in a compact, affordable package—ideal for lake/coastal use or short family outings.
