Olympic Yachts (Greece)

Olympic Yachts Ltd. (Greece) refers to the original name of what became Olympic Marine, a Greek shipyard founded in 1969 in Lavrio (near Athens), Greece. It was established as a major builder of sailing yachts and other vessels during the 1970s boom in Taiwan/Greece fiberglass boat production for export markets (primarily US and Europe). The yard produced a range of cruising sailboats under the Olympic brand, often in partnership with or licensed from designers/importers (e.g., some models overlapped with US marketing as Olympic or Mao Ta variants due to shared molds or collaborations). In the 1970s, it had a short-lived Canadian subsidiary called Olympic Yachtcraft Corp. in Montreal, Quebec, to distribute/sell boats in North America.
The company evolved over time: it continued building sailboats into the 1980s–1990s, then shifted focus to motorboats, RIBs (rigid inflatable boats), and larger vessels. Today, the Lavrio facility operates as Olympic Marine (or Omikron Yachts in recent branding for larger/newer projects), producing modern motor yachts, RIBs, and some sailboat-related services, though the classic sailing yacht era ended decades ago. It's known for quality fiberglass layup and seaworthy designs suited to Mediterranean and offshore conditions.
