Luger Voyager 30

Luger Voyager 30

Description

The Luger Voyager 30 (also known as the Voyager 30 (Luger)) is a lightweight, trailerable fiberglass coastal cruiser-racer built by Luger Industries (Burnsville, Minnesota, USA) from around 1979 to the late 1980s/early 1990s. Offered primarily as a kit boat (owner-assembled interior/fittings, with hull/deck factory-molded) or factory-completed, it features a swing keel (cast iron with lead insert) for shallow draft/trailering/beaching, a masthead sloop rig (with optional ketch variant), a roomy cockpit (seats 4–6), and a basic cabin (V-berth forward + settees sleeping 4–5, galley/heads). Designed by Edwin Monk Jr. (with Eric White input in some sources), it's known for its fast, fun performance (ultralight displacement for quick acceleration/planing), affordability, and versatility as a coastal daysailer/weekender—though owners note it's tender (low initial stability if capsized) and best for protected/coastal waters rather than heavy offshore (capsize ratio ~1.67, good for its class but not bluewater tank-like). Many are still sailed/restored today, with discussions in forums about keel winch maintenance, rigging upgrades, or fiberglass work.
