Super Sunfish

Super Sunfish

Description

Super Sunfish is a performance variant of the iconic Sunfish dinghy, produced by AMF/Alcort from 1974 to 1984. It uses the same fiberglass hull as the standard Sunfish but features a different rig: a high-aspect-ratio unstayed cat rig (single sail on a taller mast, more Laser-like) instead of the traditional lateen rig. A conversion kit was also offered so owners could upgrade a standard Sunfish to Super Sunfish configuration. This model was AMF’s attempt to add a sportier, more modern performance option to compete with emerging boats like the Laser, while keeping the ultra-popular Sunfish platform.
