Swan 46 Mk III (Swan 461))
Description
The Swan 46 Mk III (also known as the Swan 461 or Swan 46-3) is a high-end performance cruiser designed by Germán Frers as his 33rd collaboration with Nautor Swan. It was built by Oy Nautor AB in Finland from 2004 to 2007, with only 25 hulls completed before production ended. This final evolution of the Swan 46 family features a modernized 15/16 fractional sloop rig (with swept-back spreaders and no running backstays), a minimalist deck layout with all lines led aft to a single spacious cockpit (no traveler), electric winches, and options for a standard fin keel with bulb/spade rudder or a daggerboard version with twin rudders for shallower draft. Construction uses a solid fiberglass hull with a closed-cell foam-cored sandwich deck for strength, insulation, and reduced weight, while the interior offers Burma teak joinery in two- or three-cabin layouts, a forward nav station, ample storage, and practical cruising amenities including a larger engine (53 or 75 hp Volvo Penta) and generous tankage.
