Swan 46 Mk II
Description
The Swan 46 Mk II is a refined cruiser-racer designed by Germán Frers and built by Nautor (Oy Nautor AB) in Finland from 1989 to 1997, with only 28 hulls completed. It evolved from the earlier Mk I (81 built, 1983–1989) with updates including a revised higher-aspect-ratio keel with bulb, an elliptical spade rudder for improved steering response, a more open saloon layout, an additional bunk cabin, and better interior flow (such as an aft head accessible from two sides), all while maintaining the elegant Frers hull form, high-quality fiberglass construction (solid hull laminate with cored deck), and premium teak joinery that define Nautor Swan yachts. This model excels as a versatile performer—responsive and stiff under sail for club racing or Swan Cup events, yet comfortable and capable for shorthanded bluewater cruising—with excellent balance, seakindly motion, and practical deck ergonomics for a couple or small crew.
