SWAN 47-2 S&S CB (NYYC 48)
Description
The Swan 47-2 S&S CB (NYYC 48) is a centerboard-equipped variant of the classic Swan 47 offshore cruiser-racer, designed by Sparkman & Stephens (S&S design #2201) and built by Oy Nautor AB in Finland. It was introduced in 1976 as a response to requests (including from the New York Yacht Club) for a shallower-draft version suitable for coastal and some offshore sailing while retaining strong performance. Of the total ~70 Swan 47 hulls built between 1975 and 1984, only 10 were completed as this centerboard (CB) model, often referred to as the NYYC 48 (with hull numbers starting around 60+). It features a masthead sloop rig, high-quality fiberglass construction with teak decks and interior joinery typical of early Nautor Swans, and a practical layout for cruising with racing capability.
