Ta Chio RH-43 (Ron Holland 43)
Description
The RH 43 (also known as the Ron Holland 43, Ta Chiao RH-43, or sometimes referenced as CT 43) is a 43-foot (LOA 42.67 ft) masthead sloop designed by renowned naval architect Ron Holland. It was built in fiberglass by Ta Chiao Shipbuilding Co. in Taiwan starting around 1985. Only a limited number were produced (reportedly around 13 custom-ordered boats), making it a relatively rare bluewater cruiser. This model is a moderate-to-heavy displacement performance-oriented cruising sailboat with a balanced hull form, known for good offshore capabilities, stability, and comfortable long-range voyaging. It features a fin keel with skeg-mounted rudder, encapsulated ballast, and is praised for its seaworthiness and handling. Some owners describe it as a solid, capable passagemaker with a focus on autonomy and comfort rather than pure racing speed.
