Tashiba 36
Description
The Tashiba 36 (also known as Ta Shing Tashiba 36) is a 36-foot heavy-displacement bluewater cutter designed by Robert Perry and built in fiberglass by Ta Shing Yacht Building Ltd. in Taiwan, primarily from 1986 to 1988 (or shortly thereafter). It is the larger sibling to the Tashiba 31 you asked about previously, and Perry himself has described the Tashiba 31 and 36 as among his best designs in the modified full/long-keel double-ender tradition. Only a limited number were built, making it relatively rare. Like the Tashiba 31, it prioritizes seakindliness, comfort, directional stability, and offshore capability over light-air speed or high pointing. It features a long keel (modified full keel) with a canoe stern, offering a gentle motion, excellent tracking for shorthanded passage making, and a "tank-like" build quality from Ta Shing (which benefited from lessons learned building the earlier Baba series).
