Tashiba 40
Description
The Tashiba 40 (also known as the Ta Shing Tashiba 40, and essentially the same boat as the Baba 40 or Panda 40 with minor cosmetic/branding differences) is a 40-foot heavy-displacement bluewater cutter designed by Robert Perry. It was built in fiberglass by Ta Shing Yacht Building Ltd. in Taiwan starting in 1984 (the Baba 40 version dates from around 1980). Only a limited number were produced, making it a sought-after classic among serious offshore cruisers. This model is part of Perry’s renowned series of traditional full/long-keel double-enders (alongside the Baba 30/35/40 and the smaller Tashiba 31 and 36 you asked about earlier). It emphasizes seakindliness, directional stability, heavy-weather capability, and liveaboard comfort rather than light-air speed or racing performance.
