Taswell 49

Taswell 49

Description

The Taswell 49 (sometimes called the Taswell 50 in stretched or variant configurations) is a 48.83-foot (LOA) high-quality center-cockpit bluewater cutter designed by Bill Dixon and built in fiberglass by Ta Shing Yacht Building Ltd. in Taiwan from approximately 1989 to the early 2000s. Production was limited (around 50+ hulls for the 49 before tooling changes), making it a relatively rare but highly regarded performance-oriented cruiser. The Taswell 49 features a more modern underbody with a fin keel and skeg-mounted rudder. It balances respectable sailing performance with rugged offshore capability, spacious liveaboard comfort, and exceptional Ta Shing build quality (thick laminates, excellent joinery, and detailed hardware).
