The Twelve
Description
The Twelve (also known as The Twelve) is a 12-foot fiberglass sailing dinghy designed and built by J. Melton of J. Melton Sailboats, Inc. in Andover, Ohio, in the early to mid-1980s. It was produced as a direct clone of the popular Laser one-design dinghy, sharing the same hull form, sail, mast, boom, daggerboard, and rudder as Melton's related The Ten model (a slightly smaller soft-chine daysailer). Construction history is limited, with very low production numbers—likely only a few dozen hulls total—before the small company ceased operations around 1990.
