Three Meter Tri

Three Meter Tri

Description

The Three Meter Tri (also called the 3-Meter Tri or 3 Meter Trimaran) is a small 10-foot (LOA approximately 10.0 ft / ~3 m) lightweight trimaran designed as a concept class racer or fun daysailer. It was created by prolific American naval architect Phil Bolger (with references in his design lists and books such as Boats with an Open Mind). The boat is a minimal, homebuilt or amateur-constructed plywood trimaran emphasizing simplicity, low cost, and cartop/trailer portability, with a narrow main hull and two outrigger floats (amas) for stability. Construction history is limited to plans-based builds rather than factory production—no high-volume builder is associated, and only a small number of examples have been completed by enthusiasts over the years (some with custom rigs like junk or traditional sails).
