TMI 22 (C-22, T-22)

TMI 22 (C-22, T-22)

Description

The TMI 22 is a 22-foot (LOA 22.0 ft / 6.71 m) trailerable fiberglass sloop that originated as the Chrysler 22 (designed by Halsey Herreshoff in the early 1970s). Texas Marine International (TMI) purchased the molds from Chrysler Marine around 1980–1981 and produced the boat for a short period under the TMI 22 name (sometimes called the C-22 or T-22 Sandpiper during the transition). Later the molds passed to Wellcraft and possibly others, resulting in a relatively low production run under the TMI badge compared to the original Chrysler version. It is a popular entry-level trailer sailer known for its heavy, durable construction that can handle gusty winds and chop better than many lighter 22-footers, with basic accommodations for 4–5 people on weekend cruises.
