Tradewinds Vigilante T-40

Tradewinds Vigilante T-40

Description

The Tradewinds 40 (also known as the Trade Winds Vigilante T40) is a 40-foot (LOA 40.0 ft) performance-oriented IOR-influenced racer/cruiser designed by Shad Turner (naval architect from Costa Mesa, California) in the early 1980s. It was built in fiberglass (hand-laid FRP) by small yards or semi-custom builders associated with Tradewinds Marine / Islander / Tradewind Yachts in Southern California, with very limited production (only a handful of boats completed, including one commissioned in 1981 and launched in 1982). The boat features a sleek, modern hull form with a fin keel and spade rudder, emphasizing speed and power in a breeze while remaining capable as a coastal or light offshore cruiser.
